Side Gallery, established in Barcelona and founded in october 2015 works with international design of the twentieth century, as well as contemporary design. The gallery focuses on historical design from Brasil and Italy between 1948 and 1969, primarily concentrating on the work of Lina Bo Bardi, Jose Zanine Caldas, Franco Albini and Gio Ponti, but also with a special sensibility for european design of the past century and rare pieces by relevant architects worlwide; a criterion of diverstity pursuing a transversal proposal in the design market.
For its contemporary design projects, the gallery invites international designers to re-think design and handcraft traditions, proposing a dialogue between two centuries to develop limited-editions works, commisioned and produced exclusively. The gallery tries to aproach to a new generation of designers born after 1980 in order to promote and explore new ways in the design world, focused in the investigation of materials, forms and technicals.
Side Gallery is currently developing publications on the designers it represents, in addition to the exhibition program, contributing to promote the work by architects and designers such as Enric Miralles, Lina Bo Bardi or Joaquim Tenreiro with these publications but also with lectures frequently about design.
Side gallery equally works in architecture and interior design projects, integrating a team of architects and interior designers, focused in rebuilding and refurnishing of private residences.
The gallery regulary collaborates with museums, foundations, public institutions and other galleries to support and promote its artists. Beside that, Side Gallery offers advising services in creation and development of design collections.
